Manufacturing Enovix Silicon-Lithium Batteries — Sneak Preview

As has been stated many times with the revolutionary Enovix silicon battery, it’s not a question of demand but only one of supply. Elon Musk mentioned silicon as the next big leap in battery technology, but he also stated that it had never been successfully manufactured on a commercial scale. Ironically, just down the road from Tesla in Fremont, California, Enovix has achieved the impossible by using a radically different battery architecture, one that practically solves thermal runaway while dramatically increasing power; with 15 years of R&D behind them, the company is now proceeding with the next big challenge of manufacturing on a massive scale.

In addition, Enovix has solved yet another major roadblock for batteries — the need for fast-charging. Like Enovix’s BrakeFlow™ thermal runaway solution, fast-charge is only possible using their unique battery architecture. Not only will Enovix make EV’s safe to drive, but they’ll make recharging them in less than 10 minutes a reality someday.

Unlike their competitors, Enovix is materials agnostic; that means competitors like Sila Nanotechnologies, Group14 et al could really be customers of Enovix some day, and the…
