We thought to include a guide for investors that are new to Crypto Currency to make the purchase process as simple as possible.
Buying Ethereum (and other major currencies)
If you don’t currently own any Ethereum, the easiest way to get some is to buy it via Coinbase.
Once you have set up your Coinbase account, select the Ethereum asset from the Home page:
With the Buy tab highlighted, enter the amount of Ethereum you want to buy, in your local currency. My account uses £GBP, but you are able to select from whichever supported currency you want to purchase your Ethereum with:
Once you are happy with your figure, click on the Preview purchase button. The purchase confirmation popup will present itself, detailing the specifics of the deal.
You will be taken through the authorisation process — this will vary a little, depending on the method of your funding, but once the transaction is completed, you will be presented with a message similar to the following, informing you of your successful purchase.
You will also receive a confirmation email when your purchase has gone through:
If you click on the Accounts tab in the main navigation at the top of the Coinbase page, you will be able to view your purchase:
Please note, there can sometimes be a short delay of a couple of minutes between you buying your ETH and it appearing in your wallet — don’t panic!
You will also need to set up an ERC-20 wallet. SolarStake recommends the following wallets:

Sending your Ethereum to your ERC-20 wallet
Once you have bought the Ethereum on Coinbase, you want to send it to the ERC-20 wallet you have just created.
Go into the accounts section of your Coinbase account and find your ETH wallet.
Click on the “Send” button and you will be presented with the Send ETH popup:
Enter your ERC-20 wallet into the Recipient field. Ensure you double and even triple check you are copying and pasting the address properly!
Enter the amount of ETH you want to send, or select Send Max to send your entire balance.
Now click the Continue button, to be presented with the confirmation screen.
Check the details one last time (and enter your 2FA code if you have it set up — SolarStake highly recommend you do), then click the Confirm button.
You will see a ‘Pending’ transaction whilst the ETH is being sent over the blockchain:
You will receive an email from Coinbase confirming the transfer.
You will be presented with a successful transaction in your transaction history.
Your balance of ETH will now also show up in the ERC-20 wallet.
