But turning 68 this year, Corbyn can only ever be a transitional figure in Labour politics.

Let’s hope the transitional period is short, as this version of the Labour Party is set to go down in history as the most shambolic excuse for an HM Opposition. Ever.

Even when things start to bite in a couple of years time, when the realities of leaving the EU start really hitting people’s pockets, I don’t think there will be a rush back to Labour. It’s lost its way and is rudderless. Corbyn’s core supporters can blame the media or the Blairites, but that just sounds like tired old excuses now.

Let’s face it, Labour will languish in the wilderness for at least a decade now. I hope it can come back, but I have serious doubts that it can. In the meantime, the Tories will do what the fuck they like, because they can. Well done Labour!
