Overview

Cancer treatment is the use of surgery, radiation, medication, and other therapies for curing cancer or to dwindle cancer or stop the evolution of it. There are many cancer treatments available that depend on the condition of the patient. Either a single treatment or a combination of treatment, again depending on the condition!

Need for Cancer Treatment

The main goal of getting cancer treatment is to get a cure for cancer a patient is having so that they can live a normal life span. It is though not possible in every case, depending on the condition of the patient but cancer can be made shrunk or growth can be slowed down so that you can live symptom-free.

Primary Treatment: This treatment is done to completely remove cancer from the body or kill the cancer cells from the body.

Though any cancer treatment can be used as a primary but the most common of its type is surgery. In some cases, the cancer of patients is sensitive to radiation therapy or chemotherapy, so in such cases, you may receive one of those therapies as a primary treatment.

Adjuvant Treatment: This treatment is to kill any cancer cells that have remained after primary treatment to reduce the chance of reoccurring cancer. Any of the cancer treatments can be used as adjuvant therapy such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and hormone therapy.

Palliative Treatment: This treatment may help to relieve side-effects of the treatment or the signs & symptoms caused by the disease. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy can be used to soothe symptoms.

The treatment of cancer will depend on several factors such as the type and stage of cancer, health of the patient, and your preferences. The treatment is suggested after analyzing the factors collectively.

  • Immunotherapy
  • Hormone therapy
