Ensuring a Pain-Free Drive

This modern age involves hours which you might need to spend in your car in order to travel from places to places. Consequently, the number of patients who complain about aching back and neck has also been increased quite drastically. While these pains and aches may not bother much in the short-term, they can turn out to be quite serious in the long term.

This problem is not something unresolvable. You can work on a few things to make your car driving a process which wouldn’t give you pain or ache in the back.

Driving support

The first thing you will have to look into is the posture of your neck and your back. If the posture is not that good, you may end up having fatigue after you reach your destination. You would wish that this destination is not your office because you wouldn’t be able to concentrate on your work if you are already down with fatigue.

Make sure that your spine’s natural position is being supported by the shape of your driving seat. The ‘S’ shape of your spine needs to retain its position; and, thus, the back of your seat needs to have that supportive terrain. If the back of your car seat is not supportive this way, you can roll a towel and put it in the position to comfort your spine.

The driving position

Apart from the posture setting which your seat can offer, you need to make sure that the steering wheel is at an appropriate distance. If you are stretching your arms too much in order to get hold of the driving wheel, you are not in a comfortable position. Apart from the discomfort this driving position can result in, you will not be able to drive with ease, leading to the increased risks of accidents.

Furthermore, you back and neck should be in a straight position if you want to avoid any discomfort in your back. And then you have to make sure that your feet are reaching the pedals quite comfortably. If you have to stretch your legs far in order to reach the pedals, you may develop cramps in your legs too.

Long distance driving

No matter how well you follow the instructions from your fitness specialist in order to make the driving comfortable, long distance drive is going to cause discomfort anyway. It is because of the fact that sitting in front of the wheel is not something we can call “natural”. Therefore, you need to stick with the above mentioned tips when you are required to drive through a longer distance. Take breaks from the driving and get out of the car for a few minutes after every couple of hours.
