So many politicians in San Francisco are only out to make a name for themselves. They do this by making ridiculous proposals, getting people worked up, and generating more media attention than their ideas merit.

Other cities would probably laugh out loud and not even consider a proposal to put a moratorium on housing in an area already short of housing. But San Francsico residents are very tolerant, and willing to listen to ideas. That’s what feeds the grandstanding politicians.
