Near the hamlet of Camp Verde, the Montezuma’s Castle National Monument protects a group of well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff homes. This is where the Sinagua, a Native American tribe, built their homes into the faces of limestone cliffs, which are rather amazing to view. The Sinagua people lived in this area for nearly 600 years, and their homes are still in excellent condition. Some have more than 20 rooms and are almost three floors tall. When you arrive in Montezuma, pick up a map and begin walking along the trails that will guide you to the dwelling and the on-site museum. The park itself is a sight to behold, with breathtaking views and a diverse array of natural plants and birds.
