How This 5-Letter “F-word” Can Overpower FEAR (the dreaded 4-Letter F-word)

What is the five-letter “F-Word” that you can use to kill this dreaded four-letter “F-Word” called Fear?

It is “Faith.”

It is true from a simple maths perspective, right? Five is more than four, so should be more powerful as well. So let’s first understand what exactly is Faith.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word faith as the “firm belief in something for which there is no proof” or “something that is believed especially with strong conviction.

The world’s top-most strategic coach, Tony Robbins puts it differently as the “certainty of outcome” in your mind before you start working on any of your goals.

He states that our success in any venture we get into entirely depends on the level of certainty of outcome in our minds. and that’s nothing but a faith that you’ll achieve success. Because only our thinking about the certainty of outcome will trigger us to produce the quality of actions needed to get the results.

Take any example from your life, when you would have succeeded in something.

Some of you might say that you don’t consider having succeeded in something significant enough.

I urge you to still think about any area of your life, however small, that you have succeeded in. It could be big or small.

For example, let’s say you consider getting your current job as a success. Try to recollect the emotions when you were preparing for the job interview or when you were waiting outside for your turn for the interview. Of course, you might have some kind of nervousness, but there must have been a level of certainty of outcome in your mind that you would secure that job for you.

You can easily compare the above example with any other instance in your life when you were not so sure of a positive outcome.

You would realize that most of the things that you are not sure of achieving in life don’t happen to you often. The clear reason is that you don’t put the necessary actions to achieve that goal.

So faith is the starting point before anything else in your journey towards your dreams.

Despite your fear, if you choose to have faith or certainty of outcome in your mind, then your fear starts diminishing.

The relationship between faith and fear is like a seesaw.

When one is up, the other is down. So when we allow fear to rise, our faith will decline. But the opposite is true as well. When we increase our faith, our fear will fall.

Our scripture also narrate the importance of faith while dealing with fear. “I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me, freeing me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

Also, in the Gospel of Matthew 8, the disciple of Jesus had an experience with the treacherous sea storm. Even though they had Jesus at their side, they let their circumstances drive their fear.

As a life-threatening storm set in suddenly, not only did the disciples face the dangers of the rough waters, but they were surrounded by darkness as well. There were no life jackets. There were no lifeboats. They felt they were at the mercy of the great storm.

In a panic, they cried to Jesus, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” As Jesus woke from His sleep, He did not instantly calm the storm. Instead, He asked the disciples, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”

Only after His rebuke did He calm the wind and waves. When Jesus spoke to the disciples, He acknowledged that their fears were great and their faith was little.

Many times, we want God to fix our problems instantly. We want the raging waters around us to cease immediately. Sometimes in the middle of the crashing waves, God has a word for us. He wants us to deepen our faith in Him before He intervenes. He wants us to follow in faith no matter how dark our circumstances seem.

How can you develop faith?

It is a matter of practice. It is just like asking how to have a healthy body. The answer is simple, and everybody knows it. You have to feed yourself well and exercise well.

Similarly, developing faith is like building your mental health. Fear is the ailment for your mind, and in order to get a healthy mind, you need to feed it with a healthy dose of faith.

Faith comes by instilling positive thoughts in your head more than the negativity, which either creeps in or you allow it to enter into your head.

The more you associate yourself with positive thinking and act upon the lessons learned, the more you will develop your faith muscle.

There are multiple ways to utilize your time instead of allowing your mind to digress into fear-generating thoughts.

You can read great literature on personal growth, associate with positive people, listen to free podcasts, watch free YouTube channels to immerse yourself in learning. Instead of allowing the negative fearful thoughts, you need to self-affirm positive statements about yourself and your abilities to achieve your goals.Because:

You are nothing but your thoughts. Your thoughts define your reality

But don’t forget to implement the lessons in your life as quickly as possible; else all learning will just remain theoretical without real benefits.

The action you take based on faith will show you the way, and an action consistently taken will kill your all fears of failure.
