Something More Austin: Matching Hearts

Something More in Austin is celebrating five years of matchmaking in Central Texas. The company was founded in 2009 and is the only offline matchmaking and dating service for Single Professionals in the city.

Founder and CEO Julia McCurley says that operating Something More in Austin is her dream job. She came to it after eighteen years in the IT industry where, as a corporate headhunter, she was matching people to jobs. Now she is matching people to people and creating couples.

“My greatest achievement is creating many happy relationships and marriages over the last five years,” Julia McCurley says. “My proposition is different to what’s out there, in that we don’t accept everyone that applies, therefore maintaining the quality of our clientele.”

When she isn’t busy matching hearts, Julia McCurley is devoting time either to her family, or to one of the many worthy causes she supports. One of those causes is the Center for Child Protection, a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center with headquarters in Austin. As the mother of her own children, Julia McCurley is deeply concerned with child welfare, and supports the Center’s vision of ending the cycle of child abuse in Austin, in Texas, and in the United States in general. There are too many heartbreaking cases at the Center, and Julia McCurley is committed to doing what she can to help those children who have become innocent victims of situations they did not create and could never control.

The founder and CEO of Something More in Austin grew up in Vancouver, Washington, and is a 1987 graduate of the University of Puget Sound.
