The mask.

This was originally published in Sonali’s blog, The Grimoire. The mask is dedicated to all those people around us who have to hide their true selves due to to the complex world we live in. Hiding the pain behind Chandler like jokes, hiding the truth to save pain to others, hiding their desire not to socialize to avoid being seen as anti-social and sometimes hiding their utter disgust due to helplessness.

Masked.

Behind that mask
we all masquerade, we hide
behind a glance
we hide a whole world of pain

Behind that mask
I gotto go again
which one did you choose
to hide your anger or pain?

With every breath that we take
we lie through our smiles
the more and more we pretend
the deeper and deeper we hide

Behind that mask,
its half the world that cries
and with each heart that breaks
The mask enjoys a new ride.

Behind that mask we live
behind that mask we die.
