Having suffered from an injury or illness that causes a problem with your functional mobility or normal activity, you may benefit from the skilled services of a physical therapist to help you return to your previous level of mobility. Your physical therapist may use various exercises to help treat your specific problem.

Kinesiology taping is one method of treatment that your physical therapist may use. The usage of taping involves placing strips of the tape on your body in specific directions to help improve your Flexibility and support your joints, muscles, and tendons.

Kinesiology Tape

What It Does

Kinesiology tape serves different types of functions when applied. Your physical therapist generally performs an evaluation and assessment to determine the best use of kinesiology tape. He or she will assess if the tape is even necessary for you to use.

In general, Kinesiology tape helps to create balance in the neural circuitry in muscles, tendons, joints, and skin. This is thought to reduce pain, decrease swelling, and improve muscle performance and function.

Kinesiology Taping has been shown to affect scars. It is used to improve joint alignment by affecting the muscles and fascia and can reduce the poor function of a joint by influencing opposing muscle groups and joint mobility.

Yugan offers a wide range of these useful tapes helping in relieving immense pain thereby leaving the customer happy and satisfied.

HOW IT IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CONVENTIONAL STRAPPING TAPE?

Kinesiology tape was developed in 1970 by Dr. Kenso Kase, DC. To harness the interface between the skin and the muscles that could provide long-lasting effects for his patients he found Kinesiology Tape. He has his own brand of tape called Kinesiotape.

It differs from other types of strapping tape in both form and function. Most types of strapping tape are wrapped tightly around an injured joint or muscle to provide rigid support and restrict movement. Moreover, other tapes are non-elastic in nature. They can only be worn for short periods of time.

To allow a safe and functional range of motion Kinesiology tape has unique elastic properties. It also provides dynamic support, protecting muscles and/or joints.

Specification

There are many different uses for kinesiology tape.

1. Pain Relief

  • Kinesiology taping helps in relieving pain through a different mechanism. These could be grouped as either physical or neurological mechanisms.
  • Kinesiology tape relieves pressure on pain receptors directly under the skin, giving both immediate and lasting relief.
  • Chronic pain can be improved via the sensory stimulation of other types of nerve fibers. In these circumstances, kinesiology tape may be effective for pain that persists after an injury or has healed or maybe for pain that is above and beyond the injured extremity.

2. Swelling Reduction

  • If you have suffered or are suffering from an injury or have had surgery that results in increased swelling, kinesiology tape helps to decrease the swelling by decreasing pressure between the skin and underlying.

3. Assists weak or injured muscles

  • Kinesiology tape helps to provide neurological support to the muscles.
  • Conditions like shoulder instability may benefit from extra support provided by Kinesiology tape.

4. Reduced Muscle and Cramps

  • During exercise, the body allows repeated muscle contractions thereby producing post-exercise byproducts such as lactic acid. Lactic acid hence causes poor muscle performance and fatigue cramping.
  • Kinesiology tape helps in removing lactic acid and other exercise byproducts from the particular region, which can assist muscle performance, reduce fatigue and cramps.

5. Quicker return to Sport, Work and Play

  • Kinesiology tape allows injured athletes, workers, and weekend warriors to return to sport, work or play quicker with kinesiology tape’s unique dynamic support.
