What is Climate Change?
Rather than me trying to inadequately explain it, check out this video. It is the most accurate and hard-hitting description of the problem I’ve ever seen.
Terrified? You should be. So then, who are these people who “deny” that this is happening, or that it’s not man-made?
Climate Change Deniers
I wanted to try and learn about some of the scientists that have come out against Global Warming. Specifically, those who come out against studies conducted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). After looking at just a couple (in order), I started to notice a trend. Climate change deniers have either been bought or their credentials fall apart after you examine them for 2 seconds or the science they bring to the table is garbage. Luckily, most of this work has been done for me by others, so I’ll just be making the results more obvious. Here is just a small sample of data.
Khabiullo Abdusamatov: Believes that Global Warming is a natural process that is caused by solar radiation.
Why he’s full of shit: “This assertion has not been accepted by the broader scientific community, some of whom have stated that ‘the idea just isn’t supported by the theory or by the observations’ and that it ‘doesn’t make physical sense.’”
Sallie Baliunas: Believes global warming and global cooling are caused by an increase and decrease in sunspots, respectively.
Why she’s full of shit: The peer review process used was faulty and came under scrutiny from the scientific community resulting in the resignation of half of the editorial staff. Also there’s this:
Over the last 35 years the sun has shown a slight cooling trend. However global temperatures have been increasing. Since the sun and climate are going in opposite directions scientists conclude the sun cannot be the cause of recent global warming. The only way to blame the sun for the current rise in temperatures is by cherry picking the data. This is done by showing only past periods when sun and climate move together and ignoring the last few decades when the two are moving in opposite directions.
Timothy Francis Ball: Presented as a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. Believes global warming is caused by natural occurrences.
Why he’s full of shit: He is a complete fraud and was outed by another scientist for lying about his credentials. Turns out his degree is in geography, not climatology and had only been teaching for 8 years, not the 28 he had claimed. Also, the University of Winnipeg does not have, nor has it ever had, a climatology department. By the way, even though he is a complete fraud, he is still selling books and spreading falsehoods to this day.
Robert M. Carter: Believes global warming is caused by the El Niño Southern Oscillation.
Why he’s full of shit: “In 2012, documents acquired from The Heartland Institute revealed that Carter was paid a monthly fee of $1,667 (USD), ‘as part of a program to pay “high-profile individuals who regularly and publicly counter the alarmist [anthropogenic global warming] message”.’” Also the science was proven wrong.

This is what happens when you look into the anti-climate change studies, or when you look into who’s behind the anti-climate change studies even a little bit. It’s usually garbage, junk science, and in some cases, outright fraud. And the most abusive and obscene act I’ve read about? The push to have schools “teach the controversy” on global warming. [10]
It’s bad enough when regular people don’t know what they’re talking about, but when you have people with money in strategic places disseminating lies and half truths at every opportunity, and even pushing to indoctrinate our children, you end up with a population that’s uninformed at best, skeptical at worst.
For instance, one of the most common arguments you hear from man-made global warming deniers, is that the earth has warmed itself and cooled itself for centuries. And while this is true, scientists know the reasons why. So they can look at the data and say, “okay this is not happening for the same reason it happens naturally.”
The ‘climate changed naturally in the past’ argument is equivalent to seeing a dead body with a knife sticking out the back, then arguing the death must be natural because people died naturally in the past. It fails to even consider the available evidence. [11]
I’m thinking soot and other pollution caked on top of the ice, as shown in the Vice video above, are pretty good indications that sea levels rising are a direct result of pollution and wild fire. But I’m no expert, so I’ll spare you my amateur opinion. I think what Shane Smith from Vice has to say is way more important.
I get disappointed when you talk to scientists and they’re all, “Climate change isn’t going to stop; it’s only a question of how fast.” Hold on, hold on: It’s going to continue no matter what? Why don’t I hear that? The scientific community [is] doing a terrible job of getting it out to the people. [12]
You know who’s doing a great job getting their message out? Climate change deniers. Yes, they are lying and cherry picking data, but they are also unrelenting, unapologetic, funded and they are incredibly good at marketing and spinning.
Let us not forget about the celebrity man-made climate change deniers. Here’s a gem from someone on the front lines.
“I mean a global warming advocate is as wrong as anybody could be about anything, folks. It’s a hoax. There is no man-made global warming. It has been thoroughly debunked. The fact that it’s a hoax has been proven, by them. E-mails that were uncovered at East Anglia University in Great Britain show that they worked together to perpetuate the hoax, that they lied about data, that they eliminate data that contradicted their political belief. So you’d have to assume from that that they are political advocates disguised as scientists who are purposely engaging in misinformation.” —Rush Limbaugh
Of course “Climategate” was proven to be nothing more than global-warming skeptics who were cherry picking emails to show evidence of a conspiracy that wasn’t there. [13]
This is the beating of the war drum. Do your own research into the the actual people and organizations (any and all) who are denying that man-made global warming exists. Read what they’re saying. And remember this:
No scientific body of national or international standing maintains a formal opinion dissenting from any of these main points [in the IPCC assessment reports]. [14]
There is not a single scientific body or standing that denies man-made global warming exists. Not one.
