Self-Worth and Solitude
Elizabeth Venzin

As an unapologetic introvert, solitude is absolutely crucial for my state of well-being. I gave up FB about 4 years ago, and that small move restored the quality of my life even more.

For me, the ultimate immersion into solitude has come with the solo backpacking trips I’ve done: 3 in the past 1 1/2 years, and more to follow. Backpacking not only allows you long stretches of solitude and being alone with your thoughts, but also instills a need for self-reliance and resourcefulness that few other things do in life. It brings you not only close to nature, but you realize that you are now part of nature. For me, these trips (even the one where many things went wrong) have been some of the most memorable and exhilarating experiences of my life.
