Tech Supercyle: Either you get it or you don’t

Normally supercycles have a long gone definition of what is and what isn’t however the one I am going to discuss here to further clear my mindset on technological products is by taking Apple as an example, instead of buying an iPhone 5 the first year, an iPhone 6 the next year, iPhone 7 the year after that and so on, you buy the iPhone 5 and instead of getting the iPhone 6 the coming year, you wait till the next one and then jump ship to the iPhone 7 or if you’re really patient (and temporarily broke) you directly get the iPhone 8.

Normal Consumer Cycle
Super Cycle

Now I know to my international readers, this thought baffles your brains out because you’re used to upgrading your phone each year with your carrier tied in be it Verizon or AT&T however supercycles have been long commonly used in India and the concept has started adapting among certain consumers in the US and globally as well and here is why you should give it a thought too.

  1. IT SAVES MONEY! Pay for the iPhone 6 when it launches and then pay NOTHING the next year. Because you’ll be paying for the iPhone 8 the year after that. Now lemme baffle you once more when I say here in India, carrier plans aren’t exactly what we aim them to be so we buy phones here for full retail price instead of paying say 20 bucks a month. Yeah, we know. HOWEVER, what started of as saving money because we’re definitely not gonna get an iPhone each year but we might every two or three years then turned into the possibly smartest option known to Man. The year you don’t get an iPhone, you can invest that money somewhere more productive!
  2. BETTER UPGRADES WHEN YOU UPGRADE! Going from the camera of the iPhone 5 to the 6 doesn’t make much difference and neither does the performance or pretty much anything else but going from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 7 Plus with that dual camera and that way better chip and dem stereo speakers and waterproofing? Now you’re talking.

3. You learn to have patience, appreciate what you have more, and find your way to work around it. Because nothing says all these better than upgrading from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 7 Plus. And it’s also gonna drive Tom crazy that you’re so cool and zen and chill and he’s not though he says he practices all that. Yeah right Tom.

4. You can go apeshit crazy! Remember how I talked about in my first point that it saves money. Yeah, virtually everyone will have an iPhone 7 Plus. Even your asshole neighbor Tom, but does he have that 128 GB model, a sick new case, some accessories and essentials to go along with like you do, and did I mention and STILL HAVE money left to be used on other stuff. Tom can eat shit.

I know I normally type a lot of meaningful shit but I believe this was enough for today. I mean either you’re gonna read this and say, “OMG this guy makes some nice points. He’s Einstein to think so and from now on I’m gonna supercycle my tech now,” or you’re gonna go “what a poor asshole who wants me to save money and have good shit. Ignore”.

Well if you’re from the former, thank you for appreciating my worth and jumping the bandwagon and if you’re the latter, a fuck you too.

Either ways, I’m gonna upgrade this year to the iPhone 8 from my iPhone 6, I’m gonna get the Macbook Pro 2017 with dem touch bar from my HP Envy TouchSmart Ultrabook 4 2015 and I’m finally gonna get some new pair of clothes and accessories after a whole year/year and a half. The point of supercycles is to save money, use that money to buy better and qualitative shit now, and learn to live with an appreciate it. And it can be applied to almost anything materialistic. Either you get it, or you don’t. What started off as an Indian tradition of saving money has turned into something much more beautiful and useful along the way. Like I said:

Tech Supercyle: Either you get it or you don’t.

I pray you understand the concept behind Supercycles and use it in your life to better it, like I have.
