TaskForce Update: Overview and Progress
In the evolution of any open source project, there comes a moment when the original team that delivered the core technology, Initiates a transition, not to leave the ecosystem, but to allow a new generation of builders to take their place along their side. This is and has been true for Linux, Bitcoin, Ethereum, the list is long, the lesson undeniable, longevity is found in the empowerment of diverse and active community voices. Core devs are just one small part of the puzzle.
Ever since the historic open sourcing of the Soonaverse, we have been on this well established trajectory of successful community expansion. The formation of our community TaskForce (the second more successful iteration of the previous Fab 500 initiative), has already resulted in more community driven success than ever before. Here are some of the current workstreams in development by our TaskForce.
Developer Recruitment
Growing a web3 platform is impossible without developers to support your priorities. Hence, we are actively seeking partners and developers willing to contribute to key areas vital for the platform’s growth: an initiative that has already proven successful with the addition of an exceptional community developer and testers.
Bug Fixing
We worked together as a team to formulate a list of the most critical issues facing the platform. We then built on the efforts from our developer recruiting, where we have been fortunate to receive the support of a brilliant builder (GL | AlecM) that has worked with Adam to bring those capabilities to the Soonaverse. We’ve already influenced the development of two new modules (bulk NFT uploading and NFT swaps) and we are getting ready to deploy even more. We are currently working on improving the prioritization process to make it more transparent, allowing for greater community input and testing, and regularly sharing progress updates. Meanwhile, the list of our priorities that are currently being worked on (or have already been completed) can be found below.
Module Builders
SPDRs are an innovative part of our future plans and we are always looking for new features, applications, and communities to bring to the Soonaverse. It’s the best way to grow the user base and revenue generation as well as showcase the flexibility of the platform and its abilities as an L1 IOTA based product.
Crosschain Partnerships
We’ve already established relationships with the Cardano ecosystem through NMKR and more builders are on the way. If you have any suggestions on who we can involve please let us know. Just come to our Discord and engage us. We are ready to grow with you.
Community Leadership
The success of the TaskForce in dictating the future of the Soonaverse has been clear and the SOON COMMITTEE believes that the best way to approach the future together is to “flatten” the organization and merge efforts. They are therefore in the process of winding down COMMITTEE related operations and merging with the TaskForce team. More information will be made as it becomes available such as the formal formation and registration of a Soonaverse DAO.
Governance
The TaskForce is dedicated to creating an open and transparent organization. It’s for this reason we have been working diligently with the head of the Tangle Treasury, DeepSea to establish a framework for Soon Community governance. We anticipate that the formulation of these processes and structures will take approximately 3–6 months. Within this timeframe, elections will also be held. Until then we will continue our work in our current configuration to make certain that we do not lose the momentum we have already created.
Meanwhile, the task force team is dedicated to maintaining transparency and plans to enhance communication with the community. This will be achieved by actively utilizing platforms such as Discord, Twitter, and Medium to share updates, get input and engage with the community, as well as provide timely information about ongoing initiatives and decisions.
TF expansion
We are always looking to expand our group. We started as a small dedicated group of builders, but over time have increased our number and we want to keep going! It’s our collective voices that make the TF what it is. So, please join the Soonverse Discord, join in the conversation and be a part of the future of web3.
Conclusion
The Soonaverse TaskForce has been something that the original builders of the Soonaverse had always dreamed would come together, once the platform had matured. As we mentioned earlier, this is the 2nd iteration of this group. So, while we as a community, both in the Soonaverse, and in IOTA/Shimmer haves changed over the years, the dream to drive change and create something truly special has always remained. This is a simple overview of what we have been doing these last few months since announcing our formation. We hope we’ve made it clear just how passionate and excited we are about the future of the Soonaverse.
But, we are the start of our journey, not the end. If there is one thing we can feel confident about after going through this process is that the future is truly bright. Especially when you have a community of dedicated members actively contributing to a future they would like to see together. Let’s all get there.
