Even today, new articles and studies are being released in an attempt to compile as much information as possible about the eleven-day disappearance of Agatha Christie. Though she herself only spoke once of her disappearance in 1926, the world was in turmoil as law enforcement raced to find Christie before it was too late.

Today, as details are still being gone over and puzzle pieces are continuing to be connected, let’s go back in time to the night of Christie’s disappearance and catch up-to-date on what really might have happened to her.

On the night of December 3rd, 1926, Christie left a letter to her secretary informing her that she would not return home that night. Then, she departed from her house. Taking her family’s car, she drove off into the night.

Christie would not be seen again until a full eleven days had passed — and even her reappearance would bring no further answers.

On December 4th, Christie’s car was found abandoned on the edge of a chalk pit. Police discovered that Christie had left a series of letters to various people within her family: her secretary, her husband, and her brother-in-law.
