Don’t trust the WWW
So I’m sharing my cab in London with my colleagues. It’s a short distance till the place we go to shop, however the driver seems to be chatty. So we engage in a short conversation.
He was curious from which part of the world we all come and what do we do in London…how long do we stay, you know — the usual.
One of my colleagues is speaking his language, so they continue speaking a couple of words in their dialect. They sound funny to me.
We end up talking about culture differences and how his life/marriage changed after he moved to London.
At the end he said the best thing I heard in a long time.
😆 don’t trust the WWW
So he explains :
- W - don’t trust the weather in London
- W- don’t trust the work in London
- W- don’t trust the wife in London
Funny enough, and sad as well, but true.
He had his share of ups and downs in life - married 28 years with 5 kids, and lost everything. After 2 years of depression he recovered slowly and started working again. Changed jobs like clothes. And still after so much struggle he has a good job, he remarried and has another baby, and he still has his charisma! What a strong man!
And he thanks God everyday for his life.
He is happy, back on his feet and grateful for whatever he went through.
This must have been the best ride on a cab in the world!
Loved his story, his charisma and character.
A beautiful example to follow. It was a great reminder for me, that no matter what life throws at you, there’s always a reason to get back up and stand for a new day. For a new challenge.
Get up & live like it’s day 1!
Thank you Mr. M
