Leonardo DiCaprio Finally Wins The Oscar!!!!!

Last night Leonardo DiCaprio (the greatest actor of our generation I may say) finally won the Oscar!!!! The world can finally celebrate his long overdue win! Thanks to the hilarious internet memes who have made Leo’s win just a little bit sweeter. Leonardo DiCaprio is my all time favorite actor/human being on this planet if you haven’t guessed already. Now, this is not just an article about how obviously amazing and talented he is, but how inspiring he is for every person out there. Leo has single-handedly shown us all through his talents how hard work and perseverance can finally pay off. Over the last two decades of his career he was only nominated 6 times for an Academy Award and finally won last night for his role as Hugh Glass in The Revenant directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Leo has persistently worked hard and has morphed into the characters he has portrayed from film to film. My favorites being: What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street, Catch Me if You Can, Blood Diamond, The Departed, Inception, Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby, and of course, The Revenant. This just shows that hard work and dedication will always pay off — even if it takes 20 years to get there.

While watching his speech I was so happy and touched by his flawless words. In our strange world today, where getting the most likes on Instagram is considered prestigious, Leo has redefined our #goals for the future. During his speech I felt inspired and happy to be a part of the planet we are living on. I also felt as if my duty as a human being on this planet is to help save it for the future generations. It is important for us to see how our daily activities and habits are affecting our planet. As Leo said in his speech, “We collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history.” If that wasn’t enough to freak you out and make a change maybe the second part of his speech will. “Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet just to be able to find snow.”

It’s pretty scary to see how our world is changing before our eyes. It’s even more scary when we see how much easier it is to ignore it. Let’s all collectively make a change and not take our planet for granted

RIP Leo internet oscar memes:

LEO’S SPEECH (video)

Thank you all so very much. Thank you to the Academy. Thank you to all of you in this room. I have to congratulate the other incredible nominees this year. The Revenantwas the product of the tireless efforts of an unbelievable cast and crew. First off, to my brother in this endeavor, Mr. Tom Hardy. Tom, your talent on screen can only be surpassed by your friendship off screen … thank you for creating a transcendent cinematic experience. Thank you to everybody at Fox and New Regency … my entire team. I have to thank everyone from the very onset of my career … To my parents; none of this would be possible without you. And to my friends, I love you dearly; you know who you are.
And lastly, I just want to say this: Making The Revenant was about man’s relationship to the natural world. A world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history. Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet just to be able to find snow. Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous people of the world, for the billions and billions of underprivileged people out there who would be most affected by this. For our children’s children, and for those people out there whose voices have been drowned out by the politics of greed. I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted. Thank you so very much.
