Twitter Trends UK September 2016
Last week we released out Twitter Trends UK report for September 2016. Although One Direction still reigns as king on, there were some Twitter profiles that notably managed to rise to the top last month.
Our Trends reports explore the biggest wave makers on different social media platforms. In these reports, we take a look at the reach, engagement, customer service, and content on social media in 11 different industries. You can compare who’s doing the best, which posts are succeeding the most, and other useful insights. So if you’re wondering who’s the biggest brand on Facebook or who’s engaging the most people on Twitter, our Trends reports will tell you.
September saw an interesting story make it close to the top of the rankings. Daily Mirror got lots of engagement on their tweet about Harambe McHarambeface. Yes, you read that right. Some internet pranksters banded together to give that name to a baby Gorilla in China after the zoo opened up an online poll on what to name the baby.

Opening up the internet to an open poll to name things always goes wrong. Look no further than the “dub the dew” campaign to see why you should never attempt this online marketing maneuver. Ever.
