Ahhhh Merilyn! Your Füredi quote:

Today the fear of taking risks is creating a society that celebrates victimhood rather than heroism… And the rather diminished individual that emerges is indulged on the grounds that, in a world awash with conditions and crises and impending catastrophe, he or she is doing a good job just by surviving.

Soooooo spot on! Given our species is biased to simply survive (be comfortable, stop evolving once the fridge is stocked, plenty of streaming videos are 24x7x365 accessible, et. al.) societal norms of good job by just surviving — understandable.

I personal know all too well the maxim: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

You clearly won by deciding to thrive! ROCK ON!
