FiiO A3 Portable Headphone Amplifier Review
After trying many things to make my headphones louder I finally decided that I should buy an amplifier. I didn’t just buy one, I bought a lot and the FiiO A3 portable amplifier was one of them see price on amazon. Today I want to help you figure out if this amplifier can work for you as it has for me.
I will break down everything from why you might need this, to how reliable the amplifier is.
Find out how good this amplifier is…
Why you might need this headphone amplifier…
There only one reason why you need this amplifier and that is that your headphones are not getting enough power. This is really common when you use a pair of studio headphones with a mobile device. Devices like phones are not always able to provide all the power higher end headphones need and there for you will need an amplifier.
You will notice that your headphones are lacking sound and a lot of the time lacking bass. The amplifier works both on boosting sound and bass which is what most people are looking for.
I always recommend Fiio a3 because it is very durable, works great, and has a great price.
Best things about this amplifier
There are a lot of great things about this portable amplifier. Let’s start off by saying that it works really well. We will break it’s performance more in the next section. The first thing I noticed when I first got the Fiio a3 is that it felt really good on the hand.
You can feel the heaviness when you pick it up, which right aways lets you know it is well made. It definitely has a strong build. I found this out after dropping it many times and only getting a little scratch on it.
If you own a pair of Sennheiser HD 800 headphones or any high-resolution headphones for that matter. Then you will happy to know that this amplifier is compatible with any high-resolution headphones.
The last thing I really like about the fiio a3 is that it has a battery life of 16 hours. This means that you won’t find yourself charging it very often.
How does it perform
Alright, it is time to get into the good stuff. Let’s find out how well the portable amplifier performed. I decided that the best way to test this amplifier was with a pair of studio headphones and my iPhone. I know that my headphones have never received the amount of power they need from my iPhone. So I figured this was the best test I could run.
And to say the least, I was surprised…
My headphones sounded much louder right away when I plugged them into the amplifier. I would say they were at least 35% louder than before.
The bass was way better than before. It sounded more punchy and was a lot more present. It is important to keep in mind that your headphones to be able to produce some good bass on their own for the amplifier to make a difference.
