If we search internet to achieve Goals, we will get number of articles on how to setup a Goal and how to achieve this. Reading these articles does help in building the motivation around it. But, my attempt through this article is to help you find the ways to get out of your comfort zone which in turn will turn Goals into Reality.

What issues are with Comfort zones and why should constantly challenge ourselves.

“The comfort zone is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, safe, at ease, and secure. You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
Roy T. Bennet

  1. Comfort zones will not help you learn something new. If you remain in this zone you will not experience new things. And the factors that contribute to the career growth is continuously learning and experiencing something which you can teach/share with someone.
  2. Comfort zones are the normal things which you do in your day to day life. This does not give any meaning or any purpose to life.

“We are so accustomed to the comforts of “I cannot”, “I do not want to” and “it is too difficult” that we forget to realize when we stop doing things for ourselves and expect others to dance around us, we are not achieving greatness. We have made ourselves weak.”
Pandora Poikilos, Excuse Me, My Brains Have Stepped Out

What it takes to get out of Comfort Zone

  1. Notice your day to day activity and ask yourself which situations make me worried and why?
  2. What could I do to make myself better. Set time for yourself everyday to reflect on yourself.
  3. Focus on 1 or 2 goals at a time and apply the learnings in your day to day work to make it normal. Then it will no longer be a uncomfortable space.
  4. Be ready to fail when you try something new. It is fine as it gives you new learning and experience which should constantly look for.

“Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and think of what could go right.” Anonymous
