Apple is expected to release a new generation of iPhones this autumn, and there have been a number of feature leaks from reputable sources that we will discuss now. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not anticipated to feature any significant design changes compared to last year. Instead, Apple is likely to make a number of minor enhancements.

The 15 and 15 Plus will have the same design as the 14 and 14 Plus, according to published dimensions. A flat-edged aluminum frame with front and rear glass panels. Thus, iPhone 14 cases should be compatible with the new iPhone 15 variants. The iPhone’s port will transition from Lightning to USB-C, marking the first time in eleven years that Apple has made such a change.

Although the modification was not entirely voluntary. Instead, Apple was compelled by EU regulatory requirements to make the change. The advantage for consumers is that they will be able to use the same charger to power their MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, Switch, and Kindle. And as a result of Apple reducing the price of the Dynamic Island module, it will now be standard on the entry-level 15 and 15 Plus models, as opposed to being exclusive to the Pro and Pro Max.

Similarly to the 14 Pro, the 15 will feature an A16 processor. Comparable to the functionality of the iPhone Pro models from the previous year. And due to a more energy-efficient OLED display driver chip fabricated with a 28nm process, all of the new 15 models are anticipated to have an even longer battery life than last year’s models. In addition, as with every other iteration, the 15 and 15 Plus will feature new color options. Probably dark pink and light blue, in addition to the usual white, black, and product red. The expected US prices for these models are $799 for the 15, and $899 for the 15 Plus. The 15 Pro and Pro Max come next.

Now then, let’s examine the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. They received the most significant redesign among all models. Overall, the device will be 0.4% thicker than the 14 Pro, with minor reductions in height and breadth. Which could make the device more pleasant to hold in the palm. Especially considering the new design of its frame, which will feature softer, rounded edges as opposed to the previous generation’s sharp edges. The curve will not be as pronounced as on the iPhone X or 11, but it will prevent palm discomfort while retaining flat sides for traction.

Apple opts for titanium instead of stainless steel for its 15 Pro models. Comparable to what we observed with the Apple Watch Ultra. Titanium is lighter and stronger than stainless steel, but more difficult to manufacture, making it more expensive. We are aware that the material will likely be used for the frame of the 15 Pro, but we do not know if it will extend to the rear. Many believe it is unlikely, as a metal chassis would make it difficult for antenna and radio signals to travel through, so the 15 Pros may retain the standard glass back.

Nevertheless, the use of titanium should reduce the device’s overall weight by eight to twelve percent, which would be particularly advantageous for the larger Pro Max model. While the dynamic island and display will not alter, the bezel will become even thinner. Currently, the bezels on 14 Pro models measure 2.17 mm. However, the 15 Pros will diminish this by 28%. Measuring 1.55 mm in thickness. That would establish a new standard for the thinness of smartphone bezels.

On the sides are brand-new, solid-state volume, power, and Action buttons. Which will utilize Taptic engines to simulate clicks without actually actuating the buttons. Similar to the effect used by Apple on the solid-state trackpads of their MacBooks. Formerly separate volume buttons will presumably be consolidated into a single, longer button. Changing the direction of the volume depending on where you strike.

The mute button, however, undergoes a significant transformation. Which will be substituted with an Action button, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. The button will be programmable to perform multiple functions, including mute and unmute, opening the camera, setting on the flashlight, activating Do Not Disturb, and locking the screen orientation.

This new layout for solid-state buttons will presumably increase water resistance and durability. Apple will add a feature exclusive to the most expensive Pro Max model for the first time in several iterations. It will be a periscope lens system with 6x optical magnification, as opposed to the 15 Pro’s 3x zoom.

Because a periscope lens system occupies additional capacity within the device, it will only be available on the larger Pro Max. Apple’s first chip built on a 3-nanometer process is anticipated to be included in the Pro models’ A17 chip. Increasing processing performance by 10 to 15% while decreasing energy consumption by up to 30%. In additional countries, such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, the SIM compartment could be removed. Dark red is rumored to be the new exclusive color for the 15 Pro variants, something we’ve never seen on an iPhone before. The titanium frame, solid-state buttons, and A17 chip will presumably lead to a price increase in the United States.

However, no specific price has been disclosed. So, those are the rumored changes coming to the next generation of iPhones this autumn.
