This is Lionel Messi — the greatest footballer of all time (fight me).

Messi is in the top 1% of footballers.

But so are his teammates.

And his opponents.

In fact, everyone you see kicking a football on television falls within the top 1% of footballers — and that’s the problem.

The media is constantly showing you the top 1%.

We consume so much media that lies in the extremes of humanity. The best footballers, the most talented musicians and the most attractive people. This skews our perception of reality, because statistically most people are pretty average.

You’ve probably heard of body dysmorphia — but have you heard of reality dysmorphia?

Don’t get me wrong, being ambitious and striving for greatness is fine — but it can get unhealthy.

You don’t have to be Lionel Messi to enjoy playing football.

You don’t have to paint like Leonardo Da Vinci to enjoy art.

You don’t have to look like Margot Robbie to be beautiful.
