2022 Week #1 — Working on Leadway Health
yeah God forbid writer’s block.
I had so many ideas for this article when I was washing plates but they elude me as I write.
I wrote goals for the year and one of them includes writing. I’ve decided to write an article every week. I’m calling the weekly publication the Rice and Beans Journal for reasons best known to me and my friends in university. One day I’ll write about how Rice and Beans is the best thing since coke.
I started the week with work from last year, building out a telemedicine feature in a health insurance app. It’s pretty big for me cause the feature is likely to go live soon and on the app front, it’s been all me. As I progress with it, I’m becoming aware of my growth as a Swift developer and I’m grateful for it. I implement screens quicker so I even have a bit of time to fix UI bugs in the other parts of the app.
Plus I’m trying out MVVM pattern since I fell in love with the separation of concerns and I would have fully adopted Apple’s Combine framework but it’s only available for iOS 13. The app is backward compatible and is available from iOS 11 upwards, covering almost every apple device. I ended up using an ObservableObject as explained by Emmanuel Okwara and it works perfectly for MVVM applications.
However, this is not a technical article and I refuse to bore my non-technical readers with this jargon but if you’re looking to learn some stuff on MVVM, I’ll recommend Design Patterns by Tutorials: MVVM from Raywenderlich.com
Additionally, my heart goes out to you if you’re stuck below iOS 13, cause I don’t think you have dark mode and that sucks. You should likely get your eyes checked. See an ophthalmologist 👍🏽.
Together with my weekly publication, I will be curating a playlist for you every week 🥳. They are mostly songs I listened to a lot in the past week and it’s a mix of Afrobeat and every other thing. I listened to a total of 1,523 different artists last year and I want to believe my taste in music is a little diverse? I typically come back to Afrobeat cause that’s my drug, so this week you’ll be hearing a bit from Finneas and Bella Schmurda

Finally, I want to say a LOT about The Weeknd’s new album, Dawn FM. There’s a central theme to it such that it sounds like you’re driving around town with prime radio playing from the car’s speakers. I grew up listening to the radio and gun to my head I could name 20 radio stations in Nigeria with their frequencies. So imagine how I feel about that album.
I love when you can easily pick out the theme of a body of art and consuming it is an experience that you can easily articulate. It was thorough, it was well thought out and it was well done. There was a tinge of old-school pop in there and walahi it was refreshing. Abel Tesfaye gbemi debe for real and I fully recommend it.
I will be honest and say I’ve only listened to it once because I made a promise to myself to go listen to Gunna’s album before I go back to Dawn FM
Here’s this week’s playlist as promised.

I’m going to spend time this week listening to Gunna and Lauryn Hill’s the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill cause I’ve heard a lot of talk about that. Plus I found out she was in a group with Wyclef Jean, The Fugees.
Enjoy the new week !
