Why Donald Trump is Unfit to be President
There are a lot of things that are being said about Donald Trump, as he is a hot topic right now. In fact, there are so many things that he has done that it would be impossible to write about all of them in one article. So I am going to focus on the three main things he talks about which make him unfit to be president; racism, homophobia, and sexism.
There are a lot of comments that Trump has made toward Mexicans that are really racist. He has called Mexican immigrants “rapists” and “criminals”. He also went on to say that “When Mexico sends its people, they are not sending their best. They are not sending you. They are sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems with them. They are bringing drugs. They are bringing crime. They are rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” This is a terrible thing to say, as its absolutely not true and very much biased. Of course there are some bad people, but the vast majority of them are good. Just like every nation in the world has some bad people, it is impossible to say that we don’t have any bad people in the US.
He was being interviewed by CNN and called them killers he also said “You have people come in and I am not just saying Mexicans, I am talking about people that are from all over, that are killers and rapists and they are coming to this country.” While making this comment he managed to show that he is not just against Mexicans but also other nations in general. Once again showing that he doesn’t care for people from other countries.
He accused Mexican officials of actually “sending the bad ones”. Which he followed up with “The Mexican government is much smarter, much sharper, much more cunning. They send the bad ones over because they do not want to pay for them. They do not want to take care of them.” He has also made terrible comment toward presidential candidate Jeb Bush through twitter. He tweeted a hateful racist comment about his wife who is Mexican-American and speaks Spanish fluently. “So true. Jeb Bush is crazy, who cares that he speaks Mexican, this is America, English” trying to imply that Mexicans are obligated to speak English. He also was mocking Mexicans, which made him look stupid by saying “who cares that he speaks Mexican” instead of saying Spanish.
That was only one of the many racist comments he has made on twitter. His most known one is when he posted a picture of himself eating a taco bowl. His comments did not even make sense, the caption for the picture was “Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I Love Hispanics!” Not only was he trying to promote his own brand by saying that the best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill, he also said that he loves Hispanics, which was meant to be I love Hispanic food, because obviously he does not love them.
Out of all the things he has said about Mexicans, nothing will beat this last one. He vowed to build a wall and make the Mexican government pay for it. “I will build a great wall! And nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, I will build it very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.” Which I think is completely outrageous, because first of all he is saying he will build it inexpensively, and later in the same sentence he says he will make Mexicans pay for it, which is not going to happen regardless.
Now that he is president he has made sanctions toward immigrants making it impossible for some of them to get into the US. It’s a horrible thing to do because these people might have a family here, some might have just gone back to their native country for a couple of weeks and are trying to get back so they can go back to their job and family. Also when signing this ban he was specific about the countries he choose to not allow entrance into the US, there are some muslim countries that he has business in, and coincidentally those countries were not on the list.
He was not happy with just offending Mexicans and immigrants though, he also wanted to make sure that he would insult gay people too. One of the most offensive things he said about gays came from before he was running for president. In 2011 he was giving an interview to New York Times where he said “It is like in golf. A lot of people, I do not want to sound trivial, but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It is weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they cannot sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist” he said. At that point he was not even running for president yet, I am sure that if he was giving this interview now he would not have mentioned his gay friend, as he has been saying more and more outrageous things.
That thought of mine came from some of the more recent things he has said. Such as “I knew him a little bit when Bruce was a great athlete. He was one of the best looking people you will ever see” on Caitlyn Jenner. He said that America is “going to hell” because we supported Michael Sam who is an openly gay NFL player. And this next one came more as an insult to Arianna Huffington rather than gay people but is still inappropriate, while talking about Huffington he said “She is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man. He made a good decision”. I am sure that it is hard for her already as her husband divorced her, and now is with a guy. She might be going through a hard time confidence wise as well, and hearing it once again from Trump does not make it any better, its like adding salt to a wound.
When asked about what he would say to a gay grandchild Trump answered, “I have been against same sex marriage from the standpoint of the Bible, from the standpoint of my teachings as growing up and going to Sunday school and going to church, and I have been opposed to it.” And finally when asked how he would treat the LGBT community he simply answered “It is something I have not given lots of thought to”. Showing one again that he does not care for others, and is very close minded.
You would think that he would have a filter about what he says, but he does not. He chooses to say and do things like these, and it does not stop there. Another thing he is very known for is the outrageous things he has said about women. It did not just start when he was running for president either. In 1991 when he was giving an interview to Esquire he said “You know, it does not really matter what the media writes as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass”. And in his book published in 1997 called Trump: The Art of the Comeback, he said “The most difficult aspect of the prenuptial agreement is informing your future wife: I love you very much, but just in case things do not work out, this is what you will get in the divorce. There are basically three types of women and reactions. One is the good woman who very much loves her future husband, solely for himself, but refuses to sign the agreement of principle. I fully understand this, but the man should take a pass anyway and find someone else. The other is the calculating woman who refuses to sign the prenuptial agreement because she is expecting to take advantage of the poor, unsuspecting sucker she is got in her gasp. There is also the woman who will openly and quickly sign a prenuptial agreement in order to make a quick hit and take the money given to her.” Both of these things are really inappropriate to say towards women. In the first one he is saying that women are basically objects which just have to be sexually appealing, which is completely not true. While in the second one he is putting women into three categories, non of which make women look good, as he says first one will not sign because of principle, second one will not sign because she wants to take advantage of the guy, and third just wants to make some quick money.
Once when he was giving an interview about Rosie O’Donnell he managed to say some terrible things about her. “Well Rosie O’Donnell is disgusting, I mean both inside and out. You take a look her, she is a slob. She talks like a truck driver” later in the interview he also said “She is basically a disaster, well she called me a snake oil salesman. And you know coming from Rosie that is pretty low. Because when you look at her, when you see the mind, the mind is weak. I do not see it, I do not get it, I never understood how did she even get on television.” And followed it up with “I were running ‘The View’ I would fire Rosie. I mean I would look her right in that fat ugly face of hers and I would say ‘Rosie You are fired!’. We are all a little chubby but Rosie is just worse than most of us. But it is not just the chubbiness. Rosie is a very unattractive person, both inside and out. Rosie is a loser.” All of that he said towards her just because she did not agree with his views. He said so many terrible things that no woman should ever be told, and to him thats the norm, he never apologized about it either.
The worst thing he has ever said about women though was when he was not excepting it to get out to the public. Trump was on his bus going to a show with his friend, and did not know there was a microphone on the bus. While talking to his friend about women he said one of the worst things a person especially as influential as him can say. “You know I am automatically attracted to beautiful women. I just start kissing them. It is like a magnet. Just kiss, I do not even wait. And when you are a star, they let you do it, you can do anything. Grab them by the p****, you can do anything.” It is actually really hard to understand why would one even think of saying that, he points out that he is famous and says that that gives him a right to sexually assault women.
All of these things he said and done have greatly influenced my strong disliking for him. It made him out to be a very racist person, who only cares about America and is very self-centered without having any idea about the rest of the world. He also showed how little he cares for people who are different than him and how closed minded he is when talking about gay people. And finally his opinions on women close my case, he sees women as objects. He does not think that there should be gender equality witch makes me think if he even realizes the changes our society has gone through. All these things show how bad of a person he is and explain why he is completely unfit to run a country as influential as the United States.
