Between the devil and the deep blue sea

I stand in the pouring rain

my knees bend and I fall to the ground

and I start to drown so I try to swim but I can’t because I never knew how to even though I took swimming lessons

when I was 5

And everytime I think I’m getting to the shoreline a vortex comes and drags me down to the sea floor again

And I start to drown

And the sky that was once so clear begins to fade and all that I held so dear

And I drowned
