  • Shielded arc welding: When welding rods are coated with fluxing material and used for welding, it is called as shielded arc welding.

Welding Processes Used by Industries

  • Carbon arc welding: It is one of the widely used process under which welding heat is obtained from an electric arc between carbon electrode and work. It is used in heavy plants where additional metal is deposited in the weld from filler rod.
  • Metal arc welding: It is a process in which the arc is produced in between the metal electrode and work piece. In this process metal electrode is melted by the heat of the arc and fused with work piece. The exact temperature produced by heat is 2400° C to 2700° C.
  • Atomic hydrogen welding: In this welding process the arc is procured between two tungsten electrodes from a stream of hydrogen which is passes by arc and envelopes.
  • Thermit welding: In this welding, the mixture of iron oxide and aluminum is known as thermit. It is ignited at a fixed temperature of 1500°C. Under this process all parts of weld are being melted at the same time and the weld is cools almost uniformly. This process is generally used in joining iron and steel parts that are quite large in size. These parts are manufactured for placed like rails, trucks frames, locomotive frames, rail roads, still mils and other sectors as well.
