Budh Purnima is an important day not only for the followers of Buddhism but for the entire human race. Budh Purnima is known as Buddha Jayanti and his Nirvana day. That is, this was the day when Buddha took birth, renounced his body and attained salvation. Lord Buddha is considered to be the 9th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, from this point of view, he is also important for the people of Hindu religion.
Mahavir Swami Bhagwan
Lord Mahavir Swami Bhagwan is the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. He was the spiritual successor of the 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanath. Mahavir Swami Bhagwan was born into a royal Jain family in Bihar, India, in the early part of the sixth century BCE. His mother’s name is Trishala and his father’s name is Siddharth. He was a devotee of Parshvanath. Mahavir Swami Bhagwan had renounced all worldly possessions at the age of about 30 and left home in search of spiritual awakening by becoming an ascetic. Mahavir Swami Bhagwan had done intense meditation and rigorous penance for twelve and a half years, after which he attained only knowledge (omniscience). He preached for 30 years and attained moksha (liberation) in the 6th century BCE.
