Over the past few weeks my group and I worked on an XR experience that in my opinion turned out to be really good. Even though there were some rough patches with working about developing the project it got finished on time with everyone pulling their weight as needed.

My thoughts

when it came to the whole idea of working in groups in the beginning it felt like a big stress over who would be with who and what they were doing. In the end I felt everyone was properly assigned to what they needed to do and were OK with the tasks that they were given. I felt a little unclear of what the group wanted from me at first because I was told to do whatever I wanted. My problem with that is that I felt that I needed to work in unity with others in order for the whole project to feel like a whole. That luckily fixed up once peoples work started showing up and we all adjusted to accommodate to the style that we wanted to present. In the end it felt good to see people interacting with our projects and that we achieved something big here.

What I learned

From the project I learned a lot about the limitations of the zap works studio including the fact that you cannot stream video on it very easily. If I had the chance to rework zapworks I would make it so that it was comparable properly with MP4 files so that people could see our work easily without having to open up an external link to YouTube which I would rather it not do. I also learned more that 3D objects in Zapworks scale to the image you track it to via scale very intensely. meaning that I needed to make the 3D objects smaller than the tracked image due to the fact that it was so big. So keeping in mind the scale of the final product will really affect how big you should have AR objects when you have them done.

as far as materials used and such I felt that using adobe stock was great for geting base 3D objects that we needed at the time but if I need something specific I will ether need to make it myself or have it made by someone else who is better with 3D creation tools.

Everything else went rather smoothly and I feel my group pulled out something nice here even if we were working to the last minuet on this stuff we worked hard and pulled it of to make sure it was in a state that we were OK with people seeing. This is something that I am proud myself to say “I worked on that with a great group of people”.
