I don’t understand the defensiveness of so many responses here. The writer of this article isn’t offended by this phenomenon. She’s examining a texting quirk and advising men to simply OWN their statements, that it’s ok to not add a “haha” or “lol” to the end of an unhumorous statement. I agree that it’s hard to communicate tone via words, but adding a “haha” doesn’t help communicate tone. It just looks weird.
