Sarah Huckabee Sanders vs. Emily Dickinson — 591

I felt some Fry buzz — when I lied – The Tightness in my throat Was mic’d Shrillness on the Air – The Gyrations of a Stoat The cameras ‘round — broadcast the Lie And Gasps were gathering firm For that next Upset — when the Donald Be twittered — in the Room I spewed the Talkpoints — Monkeyshined What portion of me be Spine — and then it was There interspersed some Fry – With Red — but not Russian, no! — fumbling Buzz Between what’s right — and me – And then the Morals failed — and then I would not see to speak –

Justice Kavanaugh vs. Robert Frost

Two roads diverged from my privileged past, And haply I could travel both And be alum of Renate and Pabst Blue Ribbons at Yale, busting my butt, While showing Ramirez my undergrowth. You know, Doctor Chrissy, equally fair, Had, perhaps, the better claim, But Grassley was ghastly, loaded for bear! So passing, not blacking, out of there To the Senate floor was just a game. Though one flake of senator did blink, Delaying my coronation for leads The White House would forsake and sink, While I opined my grace in the WSJ, No doubt, I was already in the pink, (so to speak). I shall be telling this with a smile (hiding 100,000 pages) A lifetime appointment hence: Two roads diverged from my virgin wood. But for now: Mark how I judge the bitches on defense.

Race and the Infinite Game 6— Gambits

Every move in the race game is a gambit — that is every move is a move to seek advantage, rather than equality. But isn’t every move in a finite game seeking advantage? There are obviously explicitly finite games in which draws are possible, and in which players or teams…

Race and the Infinite Game — 5; Choices.

It is an invariable principle of all play, finite and infinite, that whoever plays, plays freely. Whoever must play, cannot play. — James Carse, Finite Games and Infinite Games It may seem that the theatre of race and the spectacles of identity which are performed there are literally ubiquitous. One…

Race and the Infinite Game — 3

Humanists, playing in the theatre of race, but trying to remain true to the drama of the infinite, are continually looking for a place, a safe square on which to land, a place offstage, where the rules of the race game are suspended, a time when the spectacle ends its…

Race and the Infinite Game — 2

Humanists see human life as an infinite game, in which all can play freely, without taint, so long as they do no harm to other players. For humanists, there are no victories to be won, nor losses to be feared, insofar as race is concerned, (the same could be said…

Race and the Infinite Game — 1

“All the world’s a stage…” There are at least two kinds of players in the game, the theatre, of race. Some observe, naively, but not inaccurately : « There is one race: the human race », and try to imagine, act and speak accordingly. …
