An Unsolicited Redesign of a Redesign

oh, and a hamburger menu too.

I’ve been noticing a lot of “unsolicited redesigns” floating around the design world recently, so as any trendy designer would, I also decided to post one myself— but then up the ante by doing a redesign of a redesign :P

Redesigns have their time and place for sure — they are great for exploring new concepts, practicing your skill set, and also have some significant benefits in terms of killing some time when you are currently not on an active project and have a few hours to dedicate to exploration. Unsolicited redesigns also take some major chops — especially since you’re kind of saying that something can be improved significantly (although in a nice collaborative way that contributes to the existing work as another variation from a different perspective).

For good measure, I also chose to throw in a hamburger menu into this redesign of a redesign, because who can ever pass on a good hamburger (or veggie patty for those vegans out there). Hamburger menus also have their uses — especially when used in the correct time, space, and context. Sometimes they are used appropriate, sometimes not — but who am I to say what is right or wrong. Design is subjective after-all, although hopefully informed by quality research and insight.

Anyways, for your design viewing pleasure — I present the unsolicited redesign of a redesign (using Spotify, ’cause everyone else was doing it and apparently it’s the trendy thing to do at the moment).

Boom. There you have it.

*note: I have no idea where I found this mockup. But it looks great. It just had the misfortune of ending up in an old folder and being repurposed for this article.

Hope you enjoyed this and lol’ed a bit.
