Autodidact: My kind of freak
Beau Cronin

One of the things that’s quite interesting (socially) about being an autodidact, is the range of reactions it elicits from others. Everything from contempt (“the stuff you know is probably wrong, and incomplete. Even if it’s not, you’re still a fraud because you learn stuff outside of officially sanctioned institutions!”), to puzzlement (“why would anyone learn on their own time? Learning is boring. I graduated from X so I’d never have to study again!”), to fascination and respect (hooray!)

Good post.
