The Root of All Evil is our 1st person perspective
That’s why there’s racism, police brutality and gender violence today
That’s why hedge funders collect yachts & Basquiats while immigrants refinance filthy tenements
We look out from the self & over-protect the self
It’s tiring to empathize
It takes effort
And we overestimate & underestimate the collective human spirit
Instead I look forward to the day when we survey from up above
Detaching from our corporeal survival
Discarding each dead meat bag like an empty Aquafina — before we’re uploaded back up above
- only to be poured back into a fresh steaming vessel to play again
In the meantime let’s sweat to balance our empathy & egocentrism thru diversity & discourse
Let’s strain and fight and weep
Let’s make this fundamentally flawed experience a little better for all players
