Time management is a very crucial part of our fast and progressive life. As the old saying goes — “ Time and Tide waits for none”, we must be fully aware of the circumstances that we may have to incur if we cross the deadlines or do not effectively utilize the present. People may fail to run a company or may suffer tremendous losses due to the incapability of managing time properly. Time cannot be paused and played according to our requirements in reality, so we must know the appropriate tactics to properly manage time so that we can accomplish maximum from it.

It is considered to be more beneficial if we complete the most difficult and challenging task at the very beginning so that the remaining time, we can focus on the comparatively easier task. Generally, successful people tend to finish the most difficult work early in the morning so that the rest of the day becomes much more easy. If we keep on procrastinating and indulge our minds in something else other than the actual work and keep it aside to complete it at a later time, then nothing will really work out. Instead, all the responsibilities and pending tasks are going to get piled up, ultimately delaying the process of reaching the finishing point. “Procrastination is the thief of time.”

Also in the morning our will power battery is completely charged and it will perform at its ultimate best! So work up your brain early in the morning, instead of stalling and keeping the most difficult work held up to be completed at the most optimal time, which never comes.

When we complete a work successfully, we feel a sense of satisfaction and enthusiasm within ourselves. Considering the scientific aspect of this emotional outburst is that at such junctures, our brain releases a hormone termed as ENDORPHIN which induces a natural High to our senses. Due to this our self confidence and self esteem is boosted up. We must make this sensation a positive addiction and try to complete all the task before the stipulated time limits. The proneness to such a convention will lead us to completing the work on time and also find out remedies for any faulty circumstances, if any.

The most important rule for time management would be to indulge in clarity. We must set the table right before plunging into anything. For example, I keep on beating about the bush until I am sure of my next topic on which I want to write. Till then, I am fully distracted by all the other things like Facebook or You-Tube, trying to find something fruitful. But once I am set with the topic I know how to proceed with it. Hence, having a clear vision in mind is definitely very crucial. Set your goal. That is really the first thing which needs to be decided upon. If you do not know what you are fighting for, you will eventually give it up after sometime, because you do not know the outcome or the gain so there is literally no driving force that will nudge you. Think on a paper. This will help you create better. Once you are ready with your list, prepare yourself to act upon it. Culminate each day with a sub goal that adds up to the ultimate agenda.

The next rule of Time management is to prepare yourself for the upcoming day. There is a very simple yet profound 6-P formula that tells us how important it is to plan in advance.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance

Sometimes planning well ahead will open thousands of options to be completed leading to confusion. But confusion is the first stop on the train to clarity. You have to find the clarity in your confusion. Make four lists to clearly prioritize all the tasks. Make a yearly list, a monthly list, a weekly list and a daily list. Fill up the daily list with all the small yet crucial work which needs to be ended first in order to move ahead. Then move to the weekly list and fill it up with the next crucial ones and like this build your list to the yearly list where you write your ultimate goal and draw the bigger picture.

The most important thing after planning and prioritizing would be performance. You need to be proactive and not procrastinate. Your actions should do all the work. The two most important keys to productivity is clarity and priority, but the only key to performance is action.
