In just 100 days, basketball enthusiasts and fans from all over the world will be treated to an exciting event as the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 kicks off in Manila, Philippines. This year’s tournament will see some of the best players from the Philippines and across the globe competing for the coveted championship title.
The Philippines is set to host some of the world’s top-ranked teams, including the USA, Serbia, Lithuania, and Greece, along with other teams like Angola, Dominican Republic, Italy, South Sudan, China, Puerto Rico, Jordan, New Zealand, Egypt, Mexico, and Montenegro. The games will be held at two major venues in the country, the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
As the host country, the Philippines will also have a team competing in the tournament, the Gilas Pilipinas Men’s Team. The team will have an enviable homecourt advantage as they begin their campaign in the tournament’s opening game at the Philippine Arena on August 25.
To mark the countdown to the event, a 100 Days-to-Go TVC will be aired on key channels and social media platforms. LED billboards will also be displayed at key sites in the Metro, featuring materials promoting the event. Fans can also look forward to video callouts from local ambassadors of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, and features on key news programs.
This year’s tournament is particularly significant as it marks the first time in 45 years that the Philippines is hosting the FIBA Basketball World Cup, albeit alongside Japan and Indonesia. The co-hosts have promised to deliver the most memorable world meet yet.
