NEBOSH

NEBOSH stands for National Examinations Board in Occupational Health and Safety. Now, before we understand what NEBOSH is, let’s first understand what it isn’t. NEBOSH is not an institute from where you can do an occupational health and safety program. It is an independent, authoritative examination board that delivers vocational qualifications in the field of health, environmental practice, and safety.

Besides, NEBOSH sets assessment methods such as practical coursework and exams and develops syllabus. It sets benchmarks in health safety and environment and offers globally recognised certificates and qualifications for aspirants intending to build a strong career path in this industry. If you are serious about this career, it is the ideal time to switch to this field. There are several NEBOSH courses in Chennai such as Safety Professionals from where you can do the program and get qualified.

OSHA

OSHA, on the other hand, stands for Occupational Safety and Health Administration. While NEBOSH is a UK-based board, OSHA is a compliance body in the United States of America which offers awareness classes. These classes range between 10 and 30 hours and are generally conducted to create awareness and set safety standards at different workplaces. For instance, excavation sites, high rise buildings, and more.

The training programs offered by OSHA have geographical restrictions. This means that they can be taken up by people only living in the US and not by anybody else working or living abroad. Anybody who has completed the OSHA program receives a card the size of a debit card. However, due to restrictions that were enacted in the year 2010, OSHA stopped offering cards to its trainees outside of the US.

IOSH

Abbreviated as the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, it is the world’s standalone body for safety and health professionals. It is a pioneer in the world of safety courses, where over 150,000 aspirants take it up every single year. The course is taken up by anyone who has to deal with a significant number of safety and health hazards in their workplace or require a broad understanding and knowledge of health and safety standards to develop essential framework and processes.

The course is intensive and is conducted for three days and is mostly recommended for managers, supervisors, and other professionals when it comes to tackling risk and hazards. If you are someone outside the field of safety and health, you can take up this course. Safety Professionals offers one of the most industry-ready IOSH courses in Chennai and is recommended for any aspirant.

So, now do you have clarity on what NEBOSH, OSHA and IOSH are and how each varies distinctly? Like we said, the time is right for a job switch. Check out our programs and get started on a rewarding career path today.
