Giants punter walks away from car accident, “blessed”

Just hours after welcoming the newest child to the family, New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford was involved in a frightening car accident but walked away without injury.

A change in travel plans early Monday forced Weatherford to rent a car and make the drive to New Jersey where he was to join his teammates for the Giants’ OTA. However, Weatherford’s plans were again in jeopardy as he hydroplaned on the New Jersey Turnpike, totalling the vehicle.

The 32-year-old explains that he is blessed to have escaped without wounds.

Weatherford’s wife gave birth to Baby Josie Jaclyn Weatherford Sunday morning in San Diego. He was with her during the birth but felt that he should join his team in New Jersey after missing last week’s training sessions. It was during his trip from California to New Jersey that the accident happened.

Weatherford let fans on Sqor Sports know that he did safely make it to the Giants’ facility Monday. For more, visit his profile.
