I agree that focusing on fundamental approaches to thinking should trump teaching ephemeral coding skills. It sounds cheesy, but pioneers aren’t known for their ability to grasp a specific language syntax, they are known for their ability to dream differently than others. Perl, python, and ruby won’t be around in 20 years. Computational thinking, however, will always remain relevant.
