His eyes opened for a brief moment but he shut them immediately. Sunlight peeped in from a tiny hole in the curtain and walked straight into his eyes. Perfect positioning, he told himself, while he was still half asleep. He tried to get up but his hands lay limp and motionless by his side. He slept face up, staring at the ceiling that seemed endless in its own brown stony glory.
