50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind — Question 1

I’m going to mix it up this time. The last few questions have been from the “40 Questions Everyone Is Afraid To Ask” collection. This is question 1 in the “50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind” collection.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

I’ve always felt I was wiser than my years. I’ve never been much of a talker, so that meant I listened. I absorbed. And I feel I matured quickly. Of course, I could be wrong. It’s just my opinion.

With that said, I don’t like to think I’m older than my years. I’m 36. Some of those years have been harder than others. With a house, 5 boys, 3 dogs, a tank full of fish, and a (wonderful!) wife, life is busy. I work hard to provide for my family, and when work is done, I’m still busy. Being so busy weathers you. Well, it weathered me. Or maybe it was just genes. My hair thinned years ago. I gave in and shaved my head and haven’t looked back. I’ve grown a beard — although I keep it short. And the gray has taken over certain spots within. I try to moisturize as my wife recommends, but the lines have found their groove — but I just feel that means I smile a lot. Some days I feel fit and healthy, and others I feel worn down.

I’ve aged. There’s no doubt about it. If I didn’t know my age, and I looked in a mirror, I’d think I was at least 5 years older than I am.

But, on the bright side, my mind is sharp, and I feel good. I’m fit enough to keep up with the boys and keep up with my wife at the mall. I can even chase our new puppy around the yard — at least for a little while. I’m excited for the future but don’t want to rush into it. So here goes…
