Dr Sugata Mitra’s hole in the wall experience about how children learn was really telling. If you haven’t heard about it, go find his TED talk. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpcEpmNbHds
The most interesting thing was that the children learned with an admiring ‘grandmother’ - it is this human interaction imbued with the possibility for approval from a benign and well-meaning adult, which sits behind our curiosity, and drives it forward. We want to learn, but it is so much more of an ‘achievement’ if someone we admire and clearly can learn from is applauding from the sidelines.
