Pocket Full of Music
I am a music enthusiast who has huge passion for music and musical culture. Music is always my first love and I can’t go a day without listening to it.
With the advent of Sony walkman in the late 70s, portable music or music-on-the-go has been immensely popular among the masses. The arrival of music on internet and it’s availability in mobile phones have drastically widened the scope for accessing music. After all, listening to music has become an anytime activity whether you are at a restaurant or having a hot shower.
Typically, when I listen to music in phone, the sources are either from the music library or from online. A Music library would generally have our favourite songs from preferred genres. A Music library with all the favourite songs is certainly a music-lover’s delight, however, it has it’s own limitations.
Smartphones have limited amount of storage space and its almost next to impossible to have a zillion songs in your phone. Also, repetitive listening to the same set of songs would make the experience monotonous and colourless.
Here is where, online music streaming apps have made an unassailable surge. Online music come in two variants- Online Music Stream and Online Radio. With humongous database of songs, these apps provide instant access to diverse music. Yet, there are limitations as these apps become non-operational when there are internet connectivity issues. Online music stream gives users the liberty to choose music based on types of artists, albums, genres etc. However, Online radio is primarily used by folks who would prefer listening to instant random music regardless of genre.
With clear ever-growing number of streaming music apps available via mobile and tablet apps, choosing the app that best fits your need is an increasingly difficult task. It should also be noted that the number of music apps available varies greatly from store to store. In most apps, for offline listening, downloading of tracks are chargeable but online streaming is free.
I have experienced some exciting apps totally dedicated to music, and I would like to share my favourite apps with you.
