Courage would be tested
Morale might be busted
Situations that force even the strongest of the strongest to shed tears
But as always at the end one would forfeit their fears
If you are wondering what the above description is all about; it is that time of the season where students both in graduation and post graduation become part of a “process”. A process, dreaded yet awaited, which would help students make the big leap from college to corporate. This placement process in itself is a small journey in life’s journey.
The whole process of getting shortlisted, clearing group discussions and interviews is an exciting one. Sometimes eerie silence between friends who are in and done with process feels so awkward as if there has been some violence. Bait lies in the wait. That feeling of so close and yet so far over and over a period of time takes the life out of one. Amidst all this, one got to deal with expectations from society whose spectrum of interests gravitate from age to marriage and placement to package. This blurs one’s vision so badly that they start looking at the price tags on people’s heads but not at people themselves.
That said the whole journey is beautiful in its own way. One would appreciate and more importantly understand the difference between being strong and “feeling” strong. Without realizing one ends up in a ridiculous rat race where everyone is fighting for their own space. And if one assumes that race ends in college, no it isn’t. Race has just begun which will carry on in corporate where everyone tries to be the “lambi race ka ghoda/ghodi”. Race might end only when one finds the reality which would be a confluence of the below:
That which you love, that which you are good at, that which you can be paid for and that which the world needs.
And when you find that “that”, my dear friend you have arrived!!!
