This cool stuff in Human Resources may take you by surprise

HR has begun adopting some cool stuff and you may be surprised at the pace at which it is growing. AI, Big Data, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Conversational Interfaces have evolved significantly and now beginning to benefit the Human Resources function, providing it its long due efficiency quotient.
Let’s take a look at some companies using technology to unleash change in HR.
- impress.ai provides ‘AI powered candidate screening’ for autonomous scalable chat-based interviews. Watch their impress bot demo, to understand the direction that the field of Recruitment could take.
- HubSpot, also known for its Inbound Marketing — cultivates prospective hires using Search Engine Optimization, Blogging, Social Media, Email marketing etc. (‘Inbound Recruiting’ is a methodology which uses digital marketing strategies to engage specific groups of active or passive job-seekers at different phases of recruitment).
- Loka has come up with ‘Jane’, a chatbot for HR which helps HR teams develop better forms of communication. With Artificial Intelligence, ‘Jane’ answers employee questions in real time on the Slack messaging platform. Likewise, PeopleStrong’s ‘Jinie’ helps employees with their transactional queries. Another Slackbot Talla covers sending polls, on-boarding, training and collecting feedback.
- IBM Watson Talent is a mature sophisticated cognitive technology applied to data that provides significant insights on Recruitment, Employee Engagement, Development and HR Operations and assists in decision making.
- Bigscreen founded by Dharshan Shankar has a while ago come out with ‘immersive virtual reality telepresence platform’. Remote teams collaborate together in virtual offices using Bigscreen.
I’m imagining HR conducting meetings with employees and assisting them effectively in remote locations using such different forms of VR technology in the years (or even months) to come.
- Senstone, an Intelligent Wearable Voice Recorder is an AI powered pendant for taking notes on the go — when you click the button, it records what you say and transcribes it for you. This is on Kickstarter now and has already overshot its goal of raising $50,000. Something like this I presume can be used very effectively in HR just like any other field. Once evolved and sophisticated in its application and affordability, it will change the manner in which we work.

Exciting times ahead for Human Resources professionals, who can finally leverage technology effectively, efficiently and focus on what they were always meant to do — value add!
