Interviews are not just for picking any suitable candidate. They are for picking the best among the candidates. Such questions aim for analytical problem solving abilities, creativity/practicality in coming up with solutions, not everyday tasks. There are a lot of bad things with the startup interview culture but this isn’t one of them.
