Infamous Second Son

Infamous Second Son is an action-adventure game exclusive for Playstation 4. It’s the third installment in the Infamous series and was released on March 21st 2014. The game was recently a free download for Playstation Plus members so I was able to replay it. This game was used as the primary launch game for the initial release of the PS4, being sold with the console and as its first big title. The goal was to show what feats the next-gen console was capable of and at the time it more than delivered.

The game plot revolves around people known as Conduits. They were created when a freak experiment went wrong in the city years ago in the first game. This game takes place years later with a new protagonist who comes into contact with a conduit on the run and unknowingly steals his abilities. The game is already different in that it allows you to have multiple conduit powers as opposed to just the one lightning power of the previous games. This is demonstrated through amazing visuals and sound effects that even come through the controller speakers for further immersion.

The most significant part of the Infamous series is its good or evil path choices. Players are presented with multiple opportunities to commit good or evil choices. These changes greatly impact the plot and result in changes to your powers and abilities. It also resembles Spider-Man in that you can spend hours exploring the city and not even doing the main missions. Each power also comes with a different form of traveling to effortlessly move through the different heights of the city in style. There are tons of side missions, collectibles, and DLC to keep you busy. And even still once you beat the game you’ll want to go back and replay it in good or evil depending on your choices.
