Disclaimer:

This is not in any way professional advice, and is solely based on our own opinion resulting from the resources we have researched from, and hence, should not be relied upon as an advice to invest, or not invest in the network.

Below are the components of the analysis, explained:

1) Concept/including the whitepaper: The score for concept ranges from a maximum of 3 for an excellent concept to a score of zero for a poor concept.

2) Whether the company has a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)? On MVP a score of 2 for the ICO having an MVP, 1 for a Beta and zero for no MVP.

3) What is the sentiment like on social mentions, this is not the hype, but we analyze the strength of comments if any; across all their social media platforms, positive sentiments, and negative sentiments. Passion of the comments and the reach of social mentions. This is carried out using google algorithm. For social mentions a maximum of 1 point with lowest of zero.

4) The team: On the team, an excellent team gets a score of 3, a good team gets a score of 1, and poor team gets a score of zero.

5) The road map: An excellent and achievable road map gets a score of 1; a good road map gets a score of 0.5; and a poor road map gets a score of zero.

6) Token economics: Finally, the score of token economics ranges from 1 for an excellent; to zero for a poor token economics.

The maximum score that any ICO could receive is 10; whilst the lowest is zero.

Please note that we are no experts (in the ICO space by any means) and the scoring matrix is just our opinion. Kindly do your own research before contributing to any ICO.

In our opinion a project that scores 7 and above is worth analyzing a bit more; if we feel we are interested in contributing to it. A score between 4 and 6 would require a lot more convincing; for us to invest; and a score below 4 is an easy pass.

Metabase is a blockchain platform, by parent company, Intrepid Ventures, designed for scalability, and security, so that developers, and industries can benefit from it by creating applications on the network.

1. Concept

Metabase is a scalable blockchain protocol, striving to combat the issues ingrained in conventional blockchain. It aims to do so by initially introducing the metabase blockchain as a linear one. But as the number of transactions increases with increased adoption, the blockchain structure splits into chains, allowing the chains to work simultaneously, by distributing the mining load between the chains evenly. To prevent double-spending, the nodes, despite operating in separate chains will still have the whole of the blockchain network in store, to check against any attempt to double-spending.

Each node in the network, will have a Node ID derived from the private key, which can be used for identification and for connecting with the rest of the network. The nodes can stay interconnected, as each node will have information about the Node IDs of other nodes in separate chains in the network. The block validation and creation is also easy. Each node, will select a transaction to be verified from the split chain corresponding to the node’s Node ID. At first, Metabase will function with the Proof of Work (PoW) consensus algorithm, but will later shift to Delegated Proof of Sate (DPoS). As all nodes have access to all the split chains, that is, all of the blockchain, the node will be able to detect double-spend. The transaction will then be verified, and added to the split-chain, and can be verified for its correctness by other nodes, as all can see the split-chains in the network. This makes the protocol more reliable and efficient.

Metabase has worked on making Peer-to-Peer (P2P) transactions, a part of the base blockchain protocol, so that the system is more stable and secure. To achieve this, Metabase will create Ray Networks, which will facilitate in instant P2P transactions, and Spectrum Networks for smart contracts. An on-chain transaction will be initiated on the Ray Network, and after a defined number of transactions, will be merged back to the base blockchain.

Metabase claims to address scalability issues, through innovations like split-chains and ray networks. It is a great concept, and for that, Metabase gets a score of 3.

2. Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

Metabase protocol has not developed a minimum viable product, but plans to launch the test-net by January 2019. For no MVP, Metabase receives 0.

3. Social Mentions

Google algorithm was used for social mentions, with Metabase scoring 0.2, which is quite good. The project has managed to acquire positive sentiments towards it, and seems to be having a growing hype, as it seeks to empower developers, entrepreneurs, and diverse industries, through the protocol’s enhanced scalability.

4. Team

The core team consists of Founders and developers, who are highly skilled to make use of blockchain technology for greater scalability and stability. Members include Anthony Back, who comes with 14+ years of experience, and is the Fintech Content Director. The Digital Strategy and Engagement Manager, also has 15+ years of experience, and has been associated with the likes of The Walt Disney Company. The Co-founder and Chief Development Officer, Zachary Piester, has almost five decades of experience, and is presently the Executive Director at The (ART+DATA) Institute. The rest of the team members are also experts in their respective fields, connected with corporations like Facebook, and Barclays, in the past. For the team, Metabase protocol gets 3.

5. Road-map

The Metabase network outlines their achievable goals in 4 Phases, spanning from July 2017 to September 2019, concisely highlighting how the project aims to develop from the concept’s inception to the network going live. It is a good, well projected roadmap, and gets a score of 0.5.

6. Token Economics

Metabase makes use of two currencies, inspired by real world economies, Metacore and Metabit. Metacore is the primary token, which will be traded on exchanges. For the transaction fees, nodes will need to convert Metacore into Metabit, according to the exchange rate. Metacore is designed to function as a store of value, whereas Metabit will be the medium of exchange. Metabit will be an inflationary currency, with the exchange rate with Metacore, decreasing over time. The stakers will receive rewards for staking, depending on the percentage being staked, and the PoW miners will get rewarded for the blocks they validate. For the token economics, Metabase protocol scores 0.5.

Conclusion

Metabase protocol receives a total score of 7.2, which is quite impressive. Though it is important to note that the network does not have a functioning test net available. It is to be seen in the future if the team will be able to execute the innovative technological concepts to reap the benefits of a truly scalable, and stable blockchain protocol, which is fitting for everyone from developers to entrepreneurs to industrialists.

Since, we are not the experts in the field, it is advisable for investors, or any other participants in the network to do their own research.
