In The Silence …

I’m more aware of how broken I am
I hear my age and the house creaking
And hiding makes me more aware
That I’m too scared to show

My heart’s whisper is louder
Whispering the loudest sound of all
Calling out quietly incessantly
That the time to move is now

Quieting such a chatter is impossible
All that is left to do is ‘do’
But the heart that prattles on is a blessing
And it fills me with gratitude

A heart that is silent is saddened
Or one that is muffled with drink
I choose my big loud thumping heart
Over any silent thing
